In Obion County, TN, school safety is being enhanced with Life Check Systems. This security initiative focuses on accountability by using location tags on all exterior doors at schools. School resource officers (SROs) scan these tags to ensure doors are closed and locked, while the system also records video and audio to report any issues.

Tim Watkins, Director of Obion County Schools, emphasizes that Life Check is making sure that school doors, the first line of defense, are as secure as possible. He notes that the program strengthens existing safety measures by providing a way to log door checks and hold staff accountable. The system sends real-time alerts if doors aren’t checked as scheduled, allowing for quick maintenance responses.

Currently, Life Check is being piloted in four of seven schools in the district, with plans for training the remaining schools soon. Watkins reassures parents that the program enhances safety and helps ensure their children are secure while at school.
